Welcome to the International Student Carbon Footprint Challenge!
how to take the challenge

TEACHERS: do you want to have your high school/secondary school classroom take the challenge?

There are 3 main steps in the International Student Carbon Footprint Challenge (ISCFC):

1) Students calculate their carbon footprint;

2) Teachers submit their class data for posting and review other class data posted on our world map;

3) Students log on to a online conversation site and participate in ISCFC discussions with students around the globe.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE UPCOMING SESSION, SEP/OCT 2014
  • By September 22: teacher submits online participation form.
  • By October 3: students calculate their carbon footprint.
  • By October 6: teacher compiles and submits their class footprint data using our excel spreadsheet; their class then receives a pin on our world map.
  • October 3 - October 10 (and possibly later): students register on our new communications platform and participate in the global dialog with peers.

    Note that in the September/October 2014 session, we will be using a new communications platform for the conversations called "Muut". Please check back here in early-mid September for important information, links and updates about our use of Muut. We will email all registered teachers with this information as well.

  • After the session: students and teachers complete the online survey and receive particiation certificates.
  • Questions? Email curriculum coordinator Pam Miller [pam.miller(at)stanford.edu].
