Welcome to the International Student Carbon Footprint Challenge!
how to take the challenge

TEACHERS: do you want to have your high school/secondary school classroom take the challenge?

There are 3 main steps in the International Student Carbon Footprint Challenge (ISCFC):

1) Students calculate their carbon footprint;

2) Teachers submit their class data for posting and review other class data posted on our world map;

3) Students log on to our online conversation site and participate in ISCFC discussions with students around the globe.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE UPCOMING SESSION, APR/MAY 2015
  • By April 17: teacher submits online participation form.
  • On April 27: new calculator version, with full mobile compatibility will be posted!
  • By May 11: using this new calculator, students calculate their carbon footprint.
  • By May 13: teacher compiles and submits their class footprint data using our excel spreadsheet; their class then receives a pin on our world map.
  • May 11 - May 22 (and possibly later): students register on our communications platform and participate in the global dialog with peers.

    Note that in the April/May 2015 session, we will continue using a communications platform for the discussions hosted on our own website via muut.com.
    Click here or on the "Discuss" footprint in the top banner to visit and participate in the muut-powered forum
    .

  • After the session: students and teachers complete the online survey and receive participation certificates.
  • Questions? Email project manager Geraldine Fauville [geraldine.fauville(at)loven.gu.se] or curriculum coordinator Pam Miller [pam.miller(at)stanford.edu].

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE STEPS LISTED BELOW WILL CHANGE WHEN THE NEW CALCULATOR VERSION IS POSTED.

WE WILL KEEP ALL APR/MAY 2015 SESSION REGISTRANTS APPRAISED OF THESE CHANGES AS THEY HAPPEN.
